I have been working as a massage therapist for twelve years, and I bring diverse experience into every session. My goal is to ensure that your massage session is both relaxing and effective, and my dual background in psychology and biology helps me to meet that goal. I incorporate Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and energy work (as requested) to provide maximum stress relief and pain reduction.
Before working full-time as a massage therapist, I was in graduate school for clinical psychology and had taken graduate coursework in neuroscience. Although I'm not currently going down that path, I have a special interest in using massage as an adjunct treatment for psychological stress, when indicated. There is a definite connection between the body and the mind, and each can influence the other. See the Benefits of Massage page for more information on the evidence for massage as one possible intervention for psychological distress, in addition to its more well-known effects on muscular health and inflammation.
Please note that the office has a fragrance-free policy -- many of our clients and staff are sensitive to both cologne and perfume.
